The Calendar

I found a great website today that helps to teach the calendar:

A Little Gardening Today

The girls and I got outside today to do a little planting. We planted our blackberry plant, a few strawberry seedlings and garlic.

Todays Gas Price

With the rising cost of gas prices we were forced to sell our SUV for a more economical car. I'm going to try and keep track of the gas prices each weekly trip I make to Costco.  Let's hope they don't go too high!

Monday Madness

Mondays are actually my favorite day of the week.  I wake up feeling refreshed and ready to start a new week.

As with every Monday I have a plan:
  • Clean up the house, which is a complete disaster from the prior week, and the prior weeks before that!
  • Laundry... do all of it!
  • Grocery shopping for the week, including Costco.
  • Plan for preschool (which I should have done already, at least for this week)
  • And everything else!!!!
In between all of that Emma needs a nap and Sarah needs special mommy time.

So we're off to Costco.  Sarah and I will work on her reading skills by asking me what "xyz" spells, while Emma works on her acrobatic skills as she tries to climb out of the cart... which she can do quite well even though she's buckled up.  I plan on getting them a churro to share and making it a quick trip as I've got a lot of work to do at home.

Kitchen Scraps for the Worms

I cut up our kitchen scraps and keep them in this old coffee container under the sink. When it's full I give it to our worms.  The worms love eating fruit and vegetables scraps most.  I also give them my coffee grounds.

Months of the Year

The months of the year song is a favorite song in our house! After singing the song we like to talk about who we know that has a birthday in each month.  Sarah is so silly that she likes to call the month of March "Marching".

Days of the Week

My kids have learned the days of the week, by singing it first. This is one of our favorites.

Dried Egg Shells for the Worms

I save our egg shells to feed our worms in the worm composting bin. I rinse them first then place them in an old egg carton to dry. Once dry I crunch them into small pieces before adding them to the bin.

Garlic for the Garden

We're going to plant these cloves of garlic in our garden. I'm hoping it will keep some of the pests away.

Farm Day

The first Friday of each month our Homeschool Explorers group meets at the farm for Farm Day.  One of our members happily opens up their home to the rest of us to come and visit their farm animals.  We also get a chance to play with our friends and the mommies get some time to visit as well.
This was our first trip to the farm
The girls loved getting their hands dirty!
Sarah wasn't too happy to see the big dogs, and there were 3 of them! I must say they were some of the nicest doggies I ever met.
Some of the kids even got to collect eggs.
They have a large enclosed area where their chickens run free.  The girls and I got to go inside and see the chicken coop.
Emma loved the big dogs so much, she even tried riding this one.
